What is this plant??

I bought a seed packet from Walmart that was labeled Mint, and planted all the seeds in it. I got one definite mint plant out of it and then this mystery plant. It's quite beautiful but I don't know if it's something that is of use to me or something... someone said it looked like spinach a little earlier on in it's life, but I can't find any pictures of spinach that look like this. Please someone help me out!

Looks like a petunia to me. I'm pretty sure that's what it is.

Not sure where in the world you live Pat.....but periwinkles in UK and USA refer to very different plants.
Most often... Vinca and Catheranthus.
They are not related to Petunia.

awesome! thanks guys I googled petunias and yes that has to be what it is. the leaves and the flower are exactly the same. I can't believe they came out of a Mint seed packet though! haha leave it to Walmart I guess.

Oh we have those, too! One day they weren't there, and the next they were there! They have pretty violet flowers that I love looking at very much. They just grew out of nowhere. I want to ask, do petunias harm other plants? I don't want our other plants to die.

No ..Petunias will definitely not harm other plants.
In UK they are often used with several other plants in hanging baskets.
They are also used in summer bedding displays.
They come in beautiful colours.
If you remove old dead flowers you will keep the plant bushy and flowering for a longer period.
Over here the first frost kills them.
