Thanks Pat, I Googled it - it seems they grow quite big - like a shrub? Beautiful plant. Do they like sun?

Yes, as long as they get plenty of water.If grown in dry conditions they suffer badly with Mildew (white powdery stuff on the leaves).
Yours looks very much like one called P. paniculata Europa.

I like Phlox because it came in many different colors and it is very hardy around my neck of the woods. Restaurants around here planted phlox around their property line to make them look pretty.
