What if anything should be planting now?

Spring-blooming bulbs of course. also, fully hardy trees, shrub, and perennials. In your climate it is more equivocal whether Fall planting has much added benefit over Spring planting. It can depend on how severe the winter turns out to be. Of course, if you already have a plant in a container it might do better in the ground over Winter than left out in a pot.

In milder climates, Fall planting is often the best time, especially in California as the rain (hopefully) comes in Winter.

Reference your prior postings on soil tests...your veggie space should now be covered in winter rye and some legumes. That investment will pay big dividends next spring.

Winter rye went down tuesday and is already sprouting.
That's great, so presumably any fall planting will be in another location. For edibles, you might consider fruit trees, and berry bushes though again, planting now or in Spring may not make a huge difference. Also, see Durgan's latest thread about the Fall planting of Garlic (Allium sativum).

Theres not much going in the “garden” until the soil and PH are in better condition. So all that will happen in the spring. Im trying to rejuvenate some areas of the yard that have been neglected also lost a lot of older plants to a few droughts in the past few years. I just did not keep up with the watering with the water ban.
So been finding more time to take care of a few things.
