What happens if we plant maize (corn) seeds almost without any spacing between them? Tried looking and looking through Google Search but no answer.

Going to grow maize in a very small planting area in my home and wanted to know what kind of a harvest would be obtained if the seeds were sown wih just 1-2 cm of gap, very densely together, as if they were almost just scattered together.

Yes, they will rob each other of food, moisture, and light, not good. It is good to plant in a group or block rather than a row however, as they are wind pollinated and with a row you will find some simply don't develop. Just give them the room they need to grow.
