First, what I don't use...synthetics on garden soil for veggies.

My soil fertility comes naturally from generous applications of well composted cow manure which is collected and processed on site. In addition, I use several different plant varieties in conjunction with green manure applications and specialized forms of "chop and drop" applications.

1/2 of my garden space (give or take) is always in soil regeneration and the other 1/2 is in veggie production....365 days of the year both are happening.

For regeneration, I specialize in summer cover crops e.g. Sunn Hemp and field peas which I grow in multiple generations with only one initial seeding and shred at 60-day maturity to enable another and another cycle. Winter covers I use alfalfa, clovers, cereal rye, plus many others.

Works for me!

Are you growing in containers or in the ground?

I'm going to try a few new ones this season. Mission 3-1-2, Dr Earth, Jack's Veggie specific & Dyna-Gro. Going to also add worm castings when I plant each plant this season

Don't do it without a control group. Control groups are fun! Do you mind if I tease you? You are also using a control group to see if you can stand it by letting plants grow without your need to push them getting in their way.

What's free, or failing that what's cheap. Horse manure is my main one, but I also bought a big bag of blood fish and bone cheaply.

Fertilizers are different as how they work.

Organic may take weeks to work but they feed Microbes. Synthetics are instant they go right to the plant.

You will have a spike in Microbes. The extra will die.

Think of it this way you are not feeding the plant you are feeding Microbes. Synthetic Fertilizer bypasses Microbes and go right to the plant and the Microbes die of starvation.

The most success I've had with any fertilizer is chopped up leaf bits piled up and left to go magical over the winter. For acid loving plants; smashed pine cones & pine needles mixed in the dirt.

NPK of either? I've no idea.
