I picked 8 cucumbers and made 2 quarts of Bread & Butter Pickles today. Next time I need 10 cucumbers for 2 quarts. I am about 5 years out of practice. I home make slicer work great and is very fast.

Wild turkeys. 13 of them in total! I've never had more than one in my yard at a time, and even that is extremely rare. This family has been wandering in and out over the past week.

TN had too many, turkey, deer & wild pigs. About 5 years ago TWRA throw 1000s of rattle snakes out of, helicopters & air planes, to kill the over population of lots of animals. Fall Creek Falls State park TN use to close the park for 9 days for hunting season to kill deer. We live at the outside outside of the city limits we have lots of animals it is fun to see all the babies with there mother. This big Bob Cat worries me after dark.

Fall cucumbers do not grow as well as spring Qcumbers. I did not intend to grow Qcumbers this year until I noticed no more pickles in the pantry. It takes 6 days to pick enough cucumbers from 13 plants to make 2 quarts of pickles. Some of the Qcumbers have worm holes. What bug lays eggs on cucumbers? Wash away worms they make good pickles. We don't eat pickles we use pickles to make relish for potato salad and hot dogs.

I have some beans and sweet peas in a raised garden starting to flower.. unfortunately I doubt they will grow anything before a heavy frost hits. I planted them mostly as a cover crop but I'm wishful they will produce now lol.

A lot of my asters are beginning to fade, but things aren't done quite yet.

Had a visitor in my burning bushes a few days ago.
My spiderwort is blooming again but my asters are fading too.

Almost everything is done blooming here for the season now. Plains sunflowers are still going strong.

Cold weather must be approaching...if the pollinators are any indication. Big and small, bees and butterflies all are in a feeding frenzy today...

Angel's trumpet and cone flowers...continuous blooms all summer long even in Texas heat and humidity. Impressive to me.
