Lets see, been in human services now for 47 years. Always held a job, full time, even when going to college and graduate school. Started working in a psychiatric hospital as a supervisor, moved on to over see a group home. Then move to the nursing home industry, as an admissions director, marketing director, social services director. Later moved to a position as a Case Manager in an acute care setting. Then director of a personal care home. now over see 6 group homes, which involve supervision, reports, regulations, working with/or heading medical teams. Family intervention. I could go on. but this is the year I retire.

Saw this, so updating. Not retired yet, but did move to another position, easier, same money, not on call 24/7 as before. and now have a new title Clinical Program Specialist. (whoopie dooo) Looking at 2018 to retire. get me though the boring winter at least.

First job was as a 'Saturday girl' ( and Friday evening :)) at a local hairdressers at the age of 13. I went on to do my 5 yr training there after leaving school at 15, My real ambition was to go on to work in film/ TV / stage shows, doing hair and make up.........but met hubs :):)!!, Became the manageress of another ( chain ) local hair salon and worked there until our 1st was born. The following 4yrs were spent expanding our brood ,sadly with a couple of failed pregnancies before going on to have 2 more healthy children, As I wanted to be a 'stay at home' mum to our brood I went back to college (evenings and odd days) for 4yrs to study Childcare and Education...then ran my own Childcare business for 27 yrs ........still do a little work now and then for one of my families, but that is now winding down as the children are all at school , but do a little work during the holidays. Also ran some ' stay and play' children sessions and support groups for other Childcarers.

I'm not one to stay home ( now our children have all flown the nest) and although I love being busy in our lovely garden during the spring and summer I am restless when autumn and winter set in.....so might look into doing something for a charity,

Oh no, wouldn't want to do that, haven't done client's hair for years now, and so much has changed. Only do family members now.Plus the fact that you have to cart so much stuff around with you .

I have even thought about being a ' school dinner lady' at our local school....or even volunteering to listen to children read........but they are very popular jobs, so the waiting list is endless!!!!

Really love working with young children, never a dull moment and you can always guarantee a smile and a giggle with them! They will brighten up the grey winter days!:)

In my ideal world I would do what I have done for the last couple of years, and nanny for a family with young children......loved it !

But I must be realistic .....past a certain age and have arthritis that is becoming worse as time marches on..???....also not too sure ,if I'm honest, if would find it too tiring as it normally means a 10 hour day ...with no break!!!

No, have to except a quieter lifestyle now :D(y)

:cool:I'm a Secret British agent, & work for the Central Intelligence Agency to uncover confidential information about hostile countries, usually regarding their military or naval affairs. While secret agents travel around the world to carry out dangerous missions, they're not always in the lap of luxury. Sometimes they get sent to really crappy places where there's no electricity or running water! Secret agents - the key word here being secret - can't reveal their identity or talk about their work (So you don't know Me ok:cool:), so they have to lie and tell everyone they're a truck driver or a spoon salesperson. So if you cant keep a secret , then you better have a back-up career choice.;) ...... OK Mmmmm That was Err me having a kind of Fib Fest:LOL: Really I'm a Gardener Went to Collage & learned all about Horticulture Spent a few years working At a rose nursery Then did a little hard landscaping Before Deciding I wanted to just be a plant man So Became my own boss Some 25 years ago & have some vary nice gardens under my watch. I love the Job & would not swap it for anything  Unless ;) I could get To be James Bond:D But I'd Probably need to cut the long Hair & remove the Beard:eek:

Luckily, our Town is very small, so there aren't many days that I'm all that busy with the Clerk stuff. Just have to make the Board meeting once a month!

I suppose it also gives you a chance to keep on top of everything that is happening locally. (y) That's invaluable when running a business where you meet lots of people. :)

I'm still on fourteen committees but only a few of them do I do a lot of work for (when I was working it certainly helped promote my business). The others mainly mean attending meetings once a month, thinking up new ideas, making policy decisions - and then leaving others to do all the work. :D

I worked for the same company for over 40 years. I started in the shipping department and after 6 months they asked if I would like to go back to school to learn engineering. I jumped at the chance and also took courses in CAD programming and hydraulics. After a few years I took over as the Quality Assurance Manager. For the last 8 years of my tenure there I was an ISO9000 and AS9100 auditor. Most of that time was spent bringing our suppliers up to speed so they could become ISO certified. Now I'm retired and farming in North Carolina.
