What did you do in your garden today?

Was out at inlaws today and did nothing in the garden, but I planted a few potatoes yesterday, Meadowlark. My chance of beating the first frost is a bit lower than yours I think, but I planted them in old compost bags so it will be possible to move them into the greenhouse, it's full of tomatoes now, but will be empty by then. I roll the top of the bag right down, put some wood in the bottom, cover it with compost, put four spuds in each 50 litre bag, cover them, and then as they grow roll the bag up and keep it filled, effectively earthing them up. It works well earlier in the year, this is the first time I have tried it this late, but what's to lose? Some left over seed potatoes, I'll get the compost back whatever

3 ripe water melons in the kitchen and 1/2 a melon in refrigerator, everyone is tired of eating watermelons. Several more watermelons in the garden. I knew this day would come but I did not expect it to come this soon. Grand kids are tried of melon also.

Watered and found I completely forgot to plant a bed of Beets. They are now planted.

Got some Cayenne Pepper I really like so I will save some seed.

Well seen some other stuff I’m messing up on but not garden so don’t count.

Picked pole beans and more peppers.
Tomatoes are from the last week or so but so many more still on the vine. Same as the beans and peppers.
I started drying the peppers and mixing them all together.

My neighbor bought a mini bucket for his yard. I wish I had one 10 years ago.

rented for the week. on top of the week rental, cost hundred dollars to deliver and pick up. Already pissed at him he put some mulch down on an area and killed a clump of hardy begonias I was starting there, now 2nd year coming up nice Just stay in your garden and leave my areas alone. Now I might just burn all his underwear. or something.

Watering, picking some peppers, taking out the original tomatoes, not much worth having left on them, refreshing and repurposing the buckets, mostly been planting carrotts in them. Garden planted carrots have been a failure, but in buckets I can keep them moist and they don't get attacked by pests in the same way. Put a bucket on the hop up and sat next to it to thin them out yesterday, then left it there 'til evening, it's high enough the carrot fly can't find it.

Anyone recognize this variety of cucumber?

The seed package was "Straight Eight" but I have grown straight 8 for years and they never looked like these.

They are very good tasting, very prolific even in 100 deg F days now. Guess I'm going to have to save some of these seeds if I grow them again.

ya dont think those are straight 8's like ive grown them before nver had those musta been mislabled or mispackaged
either way glad ur gettin them ours have burned up finally

Probably your zone. I had mine climbing on the deck rails and hanging over, was pretty. Then I let the seeds just fall on the ground, but none appeared.
