Started harvesting the "non red" potatoes today, having finished off the Red LaSoda harvest. These are some of the Yukon Gold harvest....it is our favorite "mashed potato"

Second picking of the short green bean row and another very good yield...way more than we can use.

I picked about 50% of the beans in the row leaving the remainder on the vines which I lay on top of the row to replenish the soil for the next crop which will likely be brassicas this fall...some might call that regenerative gardening :) . I like to call it common sense.

Is a Lawn a garden? I mowed it with the ryeder. Not going to tell him how I mow where he refused to mow because it is so rocky. Raise the Mower Deck.

Got done soon as it started raining will help what I’ve just put in the ground.

Someone has to watch me. I went to put my Hearing Aid’s back in could only find one.

Told my wife I lost my Hearing Aid and I couldn’t find it. She starts laughing. Which one? This one pointing my left ear. You got one in there. I do? Felt sure do.

Didn’t take it out.

Too hot to do much, took the tap off my water butt, the hose connection on it is the wrong size for any hose I can find, spent a lot of time sitting in the shade trying different solutions, carrying a watering can is killing my shoulder, finally managed to fettle a hose connector to fit it and spent the evening watering two greenhouses with a hose, YAY!

Harvested some Malabar Spinach for lunch today.

In case you aren't familar with it, "Malabar spinach is a heat-loving vining green—not a true spinach—but it delivers similar flavor with far better summer performance. It’s prized for its succulent leaves, high nutrient density, and ornamental beauty. "

Watered in the evening, this drought is getting silly, and it ain't half hot in the day; all doors and windows open on greenhouse and poly tunnel, plus netting draped across them for shade, and they were 38 and 40 at one point. Too hot to want to do most things, or for plants to appreciate it if you did. Made up some buckets, wood, leaves, manure, compost mix, ready for tomatoes, started laying out plastic on another overgrown bed and putting tomatoes on the plastic to hold it down. The buckets make a dip that acts like a saucer when I water.

Finished the spring potato harvest...Memorial Day is normally the end of the potato crop until fall.

The Sarpo Mira were the last to be dug today. Feels good to have potatoes, onions, green beans, and tomatoes all laid in for months ahead. Next up, corn.

Fertilized my early Root Crops with Wood Ash and some Cabbage and Tomatoes.

Repotted Petunias and Wondering Jew.

I think of wood ash as good for flowering. I use it on my tomatoes, but sparingly as it is alkaline and they like slightly acidic.
