"Forced" to start robbing the potato row for new potatoes today...the bad news is we just ran out of the winter harvest. The good news is the plants have bloomed and little ones are present.

Next I'll be focusing on creating the shade garden, which will be bordered by logs instead of bricks.

Change of plans and the shade garden will also be bordered by bricks, however they no longer carry the old leftover bricks I used for the sun garden so each border will have completely different bricks. Not a bad thing but kind of unfortunate.

I'm hoping to get it done soon but we've gotten so much rain lately everything is mud.

Helped my neighbour unblock the sewage pipe that connects ours and two neighbours houses. The three pipes then connect to the main sewage pipe for the street. Contacted the water department who are coming in the next few days. My main worry is that our pipe runs under my front garden and our car drive so I hope they do not have to dig up my flower beds, lawn and drive to repair or replace anything.

The rainy weather lately has slowed my work on the garden projects but I did manage to complete this experimental prickly pear garden space. I'm just waiting on the prickly pears to ship. I used up every old brick I had - so hopefully none crack.

I can't remember if I explained what the rest of the garden space behind will be. Almost all native plants, of course. Plains sunflowers and Mexican sunflowers along the fence. You can already see the green from prairie smoke. It was already here and I'm going to keep it here. I'm also trying sundial lupine although I don't expect that to last. Also, meadow blazing star, hairy beardtongue, butterflyweed, and whatever else I come up with.

I also poured more dirt and laid out the brick for the shade garden. It's not in place yet and obviously needs to be leveled but I've mostly got the shape figured out. Tomorrow it's supposed to rain again and there are quite a few chances for rain all week long so who knows when I'll ever get this finished, but I got most of the hard work complete at least!

Dug over corner in the poly tunnel with half a bucket of manure and planted cucumber and dug over an outside bed ready to plant out. Not sure what yet, I have various things could go in it, I have to decide what is most urgent.

Started harvesting some of the late cauliflower. The temps are rising and the smaller heads seem to be turning purple.

However, larger heads remain white and vibrant...so letting them grow a bit longer. Cool weather predicted this weekend.

Potted up some Tiny Temptations tomatoes, dug a trench, filled it with six buckets of weeds I dug a few days ago, trod them down solidly and then hoed earth back on top, then mixed a bucker of manure with the earth, I am making somewhere for courgettes, watered a lot of stuff, prepared a bucket and planted it with carrots. cleaned one inside wall of the greenhouse while it is free of plants, dug a trench out to put leeks in, weeded a bucketful of dandelions from the lawn.

Cauliflower is a regular fixture fall/winter veggie for me @Tundra20 . This year the polar vortex blast got mine, so I started a new batch...looks like just in time to harvest before the big heat sets in.
