Its funny watching them run around the yard with them in their mouths.

I enjoy it in late summer when the walnuts are starting to fall off the trees the squirrels will grab them and hide them in the most random places. It's like an easter egg hunt.

It wasn't sunny but it was warm-ish but it was still cold, and I walked around trying to find something to do from my list but I wasn't sure what to do and ended up doing nothing at all.

After a few redesigns, I'm now in the process of creating my new garden design. I spent yesterday digging up plants that were in this area to save them, and I still have more to dig up. I then starting filling in my old, poorly designed rain garden. This morning I did more filling and started placing the brick border. And plenty more to do.

Today I performed "onion bulb enhancement" on my 80 ft double row of onions. This is the process of gently pulling dirt away from the forming bulb to encourage larger bulbs rather than more tops.

I find this process to be very beneficial to growing big onions which we prefer. I have a homemade tool especially for this job and at that it is a bit tedious but well worth the effort to me. I haven't done as good a job at thinning the onions as usual and as a result going to have many doubles.

These 1015 onions have about one more month of growth until harvest...

The peas have sprouted 😏 I've planted 9 more for a total of 10.

I've also included some pigeon peas. I've grown them lots of times before but never in this zone.

Here's my current progress. The full-sun garden along my fence is coming along well. Next I'll be focusing on creating the shade garden, which will be bordered by logs instead of bricks. I have to build up some dirt there so there will be more hauling dirt, unfortunately. I've probably moved 10 carts full of dirt already. And then I have to raise up the dirt level in my sun garden too, so even more hauling after that. 😫

I mixed soil for a Raised Bed and hauled water for my Special Plants.

After running all over town getting stuff for my soil mix. It’s only one time cost just mix more Compost and Fertilizer in.

Told my Granddaughter she should be picking Greens all kinds of them around the house. She said I act like I’m poor eating weeds.

I should loose weight cutting Firewood and Gardening.

The plan for this corner is eastern prickly pear. I intend on filling this corner up with sand and planting the cactuses once they arrive, sometime later this month. Most reading I've done has said container gardens or raised beds are the best way to grow prickly pear if you have clay soil. But I don't have interest in doing either, so I'm just going to try to utilizing the highest, sunniest point in the garden and hoping the drainage is a little better than surrounding areas.

We'll see if this is successful long-term. I hope it is but I've been doing native gardening long enough to know that if you fail with a species you just move on to whatever else works.

Hopefully I can pick up some sticks today for the burn pile. Just busy with the upcoming AGAIN traveling to be done. Leaving Monday. But the many daffs are blooming.

Also the Virginia Blue bells going nuts. They pop in places I never put them.
