I'm giving asparagus another chance...but this time in containers. Previous attempt resulted in asparagus popping up all over the garden and outside.

Planted Jersey Knights today and will plant Mary Washington another day.
Won't it still spread by seeds?

Full on day yesterday, more tomatoes into final containers, planted a bunch of beetroot seed, first courgette showing, potting on chilli. Arm is starting to work again, but gently, it soon lets me know if I overdo it, but I can do things like sweeping up again. Planted seed, a lot of last years climbing french bean and sugar snap peas in pots, then stood them up out of the reach of mice. Watered everything, still difficult with a full watering can, half filling it and making lots of trips.

Finished off the frame for my tunnel and my brother in law helped put the cover on, well, he did it really as I can only lift one arm high still. put bricks and blocks all around the edge to hold it down and started digging over inside. Only dug a bit less than a quarter of the area trying to mainly use my left arm, it felt like quite good, useful exercise, should get the whole 2 meters x 3 meters dug over in the next few days, by when I hope the soil will have warmed up enough that I can start planting out tomatoes and we get our windowsill back. Watered my carrot and beetroot seed, not showing yet. I have three courgettes germinated from last year's seed, planted seven. I have some new seed as well, but it is an f1 that the packet says plant April, so holding back a bit. Peas I planted last autumn are all in flower in the greenhouse, the ones I planted recently are just starting to show.

Hooked my well back up to my garden spicket and added a line to my basement wash basin to get well water inside.

Planted out four 20 ft rows of Honey Select Triple Sweet corn in a shift from the normal five 10 ft rows. Soil temps are above 65 deg F and time to get going on the corn if I'm going to get in 4 crops this season before frost.

Also planted peanuts for the first time in several years...kind of forgot them for a spell. They are fun to grow, very tasty, and one of the best nitrogen fixers that there is.

It's almost warm enough to start planting some okra but holding off for another 2 weeks or so.

Beans are up, tomatoes blooming, onions bulbing, and potatoes sprouting...all is good.

Needed my wife only once I found myself doing the splits and couldn’t get back up.

I ordered some native plant seeds yesterday. Some of these will be pretty tough if not impossible to get going but I'm just going to experiment and see what happens. I'm confident I'll get cream wild indigo growing this year, it only needs 10 days of cold stratification so it should be no problem if its anything like the other pea-family plants I've grown. If I'm lucky I may get midland shooting star to grow too. I'm not sure how hard they are to grow from seed yet, but they only need three weeks of cold stratification, so it's possible to try this year.

The rest require longer cold stratification periods, and it's getting too late in the year for that so they'll have to wait until next winter. Otherwise, I'm confident I can also get downy wood mint to grow. Wood betony, violet wood sorrel, and especially fringed gentian I'm not so sure about. It'll be fun to try, no matter the results.

Can you requisition a corner of the fridge maybe ?

Been clearing celandine, a few weeks with only one arm and the weeds go mad, shoulder was telling me I over did it a bit last night, feels a bit better this morning, but I'll try for a quieter day today.
My first lot of RAF tomatoes didn't germinate very well, so I tried again and the lot came up, potted on the dozen best ones.
Been walking round the new tunnel putting bricks and blocks down around the edge to hold it down. I had done it quickly when it first went up, now it is a case of tidying up all around and adding things so it is properly secure, not flapping in the wind, and easy to walk around with no trip hazards.
Watered in greenhouses.
