I did some clean-up in the garden, emptied the rest of my rain barrels and put them away with the garden tools. Topped off a couple compost barrels with fallen apples, tomatoes, peppers etc. I got most of my tomato plants pulled out and sliced up for compost but still a few left to do. I was going to burn some brush but it's a bit windy today.

It's kind of a blah feeling this time of year.. basically undoing all the hard work I've been doing since spring.. pulling my tomato vines out by the roots especially. But I do still have some turnips, waiting for a heavy frost before I pull them.. it makes them sweeter.

I put 3 creeping juniper in and i think im going to get two more in there.
Im trying to stay active in the yard but that feeling does creep in too often this time of year.

Good on you, keep trying. I've got a call from the anaesthetist coming Monday, they are going to take my GIST out with micro surgery and a robot, could be out of hospital in a couple of days if it all goes well. Not long ago that was a life changing major operation and lose most of your stomach, advances are getting quicker and quicker.

Started taming this Escallonia today but I need to take a saw to the deadwood that's still attached, then dig out the dead Hebe in front of it.

Lovely plants but that stone wall behind them is epic! I love old stonework like that.. it's wild to think how much work went into it, collecting the stone and layering it perfectly. Any idea how old it is?

Thank you @pepper2.0. I've lived here just over a year and the garden is surrounded on three sides by 6ft high, dry stone walling (although there's been some bad repair work using mortar) and it's amazing how much protection it gives to plants in bad weather.

The original plot was split in two (back and front) and my home, a modern bungalow sits side on - on the plot as it's long and fairly narrow. You can see the whole of the left side wall in the third picture which stretches down the lane. The wall is mine down to the shrub overhanging it. Now not the biggest of plots but there's enough for me to cope with in my dotage. :) I can't be sure but my deeds suggest that the wall is more than 100 years old, may be as much as 160.

All the properties in this area, old and new, have slate roofs too to maintain the appearance of the old village that surrounds us.

It all looks very healthy Meadowlark. (y)

I've finished pruning shrubs at last and now need to start on another project.

Having just sold a shed that stood here I need to restore the area and decide what to do with it.

Had a small stump removed where I put a gate in. Going to put flagstone down but need more sand to bring it up to grade.
