Hello everyone, I have a question. I'm 33 years old and have worked in sales, marketing, and retail. My education also continued in parallel. My most recent degree is Crop Production. I'm an Agricultural Technician, and I want to work in this field. I want to grow ornamental plants, flowers, and so on. Last weekend, I spoke with a company about this. I told the owner, "I'm interested in this field," and he said, "Come and take a look." I wonder if they would hire me as an intern or "student" if I told them I wanted to learn about this? Could they refer me to someone? Does anyone have any knowledge in this field?

You may not can handle the work friend. Its tough work and takes a lot of effort. I would think it would be in your best interest to go and volunteer a few hours to see if you like working in the business first. I love working in the horticulture business and didn't mind hard work. Please keep us posted and good luck.

Welcome Bughra. :) I'm a little confused, you say you're an Agricultural Technician and your recent degree is in crop production but you want to grow ornamental plants and flowers. This we know as Horticulture, so do your qualifications cover Horticulture too?

I would make further contact with the company and ask, as oneeye has already said, whether you could work there for a specific amount of time voluntarily. After a while, when settled, you could then speak to them about becoming a student or trainee.

The place I go to is a place like this... I told the owner that I wanted to learn this business, and he said, "Try yourself first!"

Thank you for sharing the photos, friend. Reminds me of the old days when I worked in greenhouses. I loved the work for a long time. Tons of work to keep an operation running on a schedule. We had start days that had to be made or the plants wouldn't make to market on time. Each greenhouse would have up to 600, 72-unit trays that had to be seeded, germinated, and grown to market size and then sent to market. Basically one does what the operation demands without choice.

We had vacuum seeders with 72 pinholes that would suck through the tiny pinholes. The vacuum seeder would hold one seed in each pinhole, and you would lay the seeder on top of a 72-cell tray with quality soil mix. To plant the seed, you just switched off the vacuum, and all 72 seeds would drop into their own cells. You had 72 seeds were planted in one drop. We sold everything imaginable, from pansies and poinsettias to veggies, ferns, and many other plants. Good luck, friend and keep us posted. .

Today, I contacted an agricultural engineer who had worked here before, and the owner referred me.

you can stop genetic manipulation of veggies.
Don't know how I feel about this, some ways it is what we all do anyway. Someone did a study of people who had come here from warmer places and brought vegetables with them. People who had been growing veg they brought with them for ten years or more had varieties better than the commercial seedsmen bred especially for growing here, that's just by seed selection.
If you mean the extreme cases, like inserting a gene that mean eating a fruit will give disease protection I am not so sure, such things can have unexpected side effects, if it is just making a stronger and more productive plant, fine. Literally millions of people would have died of famine if that had not been done to cereals, a horrible death.

Inserting genetic DNA into food sources can have a positive impact however also can trigger unknown issues. I for one treasure pure strains of food sources.
