What can be found in my Croatian yard

As the title suggest these are some snaps around our property in Croatia (I will share UK too but its not nearly as big).

What did you think of Yugoslavia?

1973 I think?

Lovely place, but the people were oppressed and angry, not surprised it kicked off

Only border guards i've seen like that before were in East Germany

Met a bloke in the hotel that i'd met a few years before in Spain, small world

Really? It's funny all the Serbs and Croats and Muslims that I've met around the world now cry about how good life was back then (my parents included). But (and I cant comment as I was only born in 86) if it was so good it would have prevailed.
Although I suppose back then keeping in touch might be a bit more tedious than now with all the tech.

Think they're looking back thru rose tinted glasses, it was a mostly agrarian society that suddenly had a load of hotels plonked on them filled with westerners that had money. I got the impression they resented suddenly having to provide service industries for tourists.

It is such a divide between the coastal way of life to that of people living more inland. We are (un?)fortunately situated inland near Sisak.

Those photos are beautiful! There are so many cute animals in your garden!
My parents often travelled to Croatia when they were young.

Thank you Claudine and ACSAPA. Some animals are ours (the poultry), some are passersby (the rodent), some are strays just needing a snuggle (the cat with the chickens) and some are night time trouble makers that need to be "rescued" from our dog and transported on a shovel out of our yard 3 times in a single night!
