I lived in Orlando back in the '70's as a kid and it snowed, now that is unusual, since Orlando is in the center of the state. As for the lizards, they're non-native, so they are not use to this stuff; they're not actually dead, they're just hibernating and fall from a tree and usually survive, the most dangerous part of this is the fall, but some do die if it gets really, really cold and for an extended period of time. It happens from time to time, but still we have these invasive species, this is a story from back in 2010, that was a far worse cold snap here in Florida.
