This was chatgpt in rply to my question as to when to go out for a walk today and avoid rain showers forecast. I guess we could also use this to ask for the best time to do so work in the garden.
What the forecast shows
Late morning–early afternoon (12–2pm): frequent light showers (60–70% chance)
Mid–late afternoon (3–5pm): much drier, only ~10% chance of rain
Evening (after ~6pm): mostly dry but turning colder and darker, with some drizzle later
Best 2-hour walking window
3:00pm – 5:00pm (best overall choice)
Lowest rain risk of the day (~10%)
Still light enough to enjoy
Winds easing slightly compared to earlier
Backup option
4:00pm – 6:00pm
Still mostly dry, but you’re pushing toward dusk and cooler temps
Times to avoid
12:00pm – 2:30pm: peak shower risk
After ~7pm: colder, darker, and chance of drizzle increases again
Well I totally ignored ChatGPT and went out the time it said was the worst! It worked as it was just starting a shower when we were going in to the shop and was sunny again when we came out. So around 80 minutes out walking and hardly a drop. To be fair the showers have been quite heavy , but short and infrequent.
A much better day than yesterday. Just a few light showers, a fair amount of sunshine and less windy. The temperature made it to 10C/50F briefly but now is around 8C/46F.
Heading toward the weekend temperatures will drop to around freezing again. We're also promised a good amount of snow both Saturday and Sunday.
No not yet @DiggersJo. It wasn't due 'til the weekend and has disappeared off the forecast for the time being. Temperatures will be low though. As we know, that can change again.
It has rained almost all day with the sun appearing late and briefly. 6C/61F
