We’re planning to add about 6.5 feet of mulch on both sides of the driveway to make things look more balanced.
On the right side (where the neighbor’s lawn meets ours), we’re worried it might end up looking too straight and boxy—especially since there’s already that long rectangular garden bed near the fence. We’re wondering how to soften the lines or make the mulch transition more naturally toward that bed. Maybe some curves or a gradual blend would help?
On the left side, there was sewer line work done before, and now it’s mostly weeds and crabgrass. Since it’s fall, we just want to kill off the weeds and lay mulch for now—a simple, clean area people can step on when getting out of the car. We might plant there later, but for now we just want it to look tidy and not too rigid.
Would love any ideas for shaping or softening it so it looks more natural and cottage-y rather than just two harsh rectangles of mulch!
