my front garden gets easily overrun with weeds and was thinking of using free mulch from aborists to stop them taking over. It will likely be eucalypus mulch. We have a beautiful jacaranda there im worried it will be negatively affected by it. Can anyone lend their gardening experience please.

Everything eventually rots - palm fronds, eucalyptus, pine needles, . . . It's all good.
Almost true, there are a few plants that produce things that inhibit the growth of others. You can't grow elder where elder has previously been, sunflowers tend to inhibit other plants, and hügelkultur seems to recommend not using some conifers.
