I’m growing sunflowers for the first time and after starting out with maybe 20, the the four that have survived the slug onslaught in our garden have started growing pretty well.

At what height would you recommend staking the sunflowers? What do you use as stakes? And what do you use to tie them to the stakes?

Hello Mark, The natural growth of sunflowers is to fall over when flowering from the weight of the sunflowers. That way they can disperse the seeds for the following year. If your sunflower is falling over and you don't have any flowers on the plant yet, you can use small wooden stakes tied with clothe strips.

Welcome @MarkoJardin Check out our sunflower growing comp thread...

I don't stake mine but if I did, I would do what @oneeye advises.
