Tess, may I share a few of mine from East Texas? They are growing so tall this year they are shading out the light from the corn, but I love them anyhow.

Nice pics. My wife loves Sunflowers too, I try my best to grow some each year for her. If I'm lucky, I may get one to bloom and tops out at about 6 feet. I usually plant Mammoth variety. What can I do to get the 7-10' huge flowering type?

Those are mammoths pictured. They receive no special treatment here...only thing unique is they are planted in soil that was previously planted in nitrogen fixing alfalfa cover crop.

I may have planted a bit late. I'm in zone 9a, I planted in early April. I have a couple in pits with good soil and they are growing faster than the ones I put in the ground. Maybe it's the soil.
