I have a sugar maple sapling (about 4 years old) with two fairly strong leaders currently 3 feet of the ground. I know it is best to choose just the one and raise the crown for a better looking tree. However, both leader branches look equally strong - about 0.8 inches thick. What do I do?

Choose one. If they are equal it won’t matter which one. When I doubt, choose the “right” one. This will vary depending on your point of view.
