Hi all,

We have had a few strawberry plants for 2 years now for our little girl to take care of. Last year they produced a few fruits and we didn't think too much about it, however this year we are seeing the same thing. They start getting fruit "buds" and they grow and begin to turn pinkish red and after a day or two (not being close to ripe) they start drying up. What are we missing? The few we have been able to pick have been pretty tasty.

Thanks in advance!

Yes they have been transplanted into a bigger area with plenty of room to grow with some great soil.

I would keep the soil loose around the plants with a hand cultivator between waterings. Also keep the berries off the bare ground by putting straw or hay under the berries. In the fall you can add some amendments like compost or composted manure.
