Working on ideas to better naturalize EDPM (Rubber) laying over the ponds edge. Shade, zone 8a, North Texas. When planted along the edge of the liner will creeping fig sent out foliage over the rubber liner? Eventually it would trap over the liner to the water. Do you know of any such plant that could survive in such an environment?

Don't know if this will solve your problem but I have seen elephant ear plants around ponds more to hide the pump I think. Please share pictures of you pond when you get it set up.

Yes, do plant a variety of trailing and vining plants around your pond to hide the edge of the liner. Creeping Fig (Ficus pumila) is just one of many possible choices. Mix and match withseveral for a more diversely interesting assemblage.
Also, before you plant, consider placing a layer of rock-on-a-roll over the exposed edge of the EDPM liner for a more naturalistic appearance.
