Spindly Jasmine

Hello, I have a Jasmine. I’ve had it 3 years but it only had 3 or 4 flowers last year and had no leaves for such a long time. Now it is growing outwards and upwards but is extremely spindly. I’m not sure how to encourage flowers or to thicken it up. (For want of a better word).
Any advice appreciated please.

A jasmine requires at least 6 hours of DIRECT SUN to flower. Your plant looks leggy, a term used to indicate a plants growth and it means spindly, thinning leaves and a taller stem or trunk, almost always because of restricted light. The plant actually grows this way in search of more light and being indoors does restrict sunlight a lot. If you must keep it indoors a grow light/lights is what I would recommend.

Thank you so much. It’s actually on the balcony, but you’re quite right it is a bit in the shadow half of the day. I’m wondering if I could rig up some lights (or get my son to do it). I’ve not heard of grow lights, but I’m sure I can find them. Do they have them in the UK? Thanks for the advice.

Yes. They have grow lights there. Many gardeners from the UK use them for many different plants.
