My daughter brought home this plant that was given to her at school about a month and a half ago. All of the other kids in our neighborhood recieved trees, but they apparently ran out of saplings, so she was given this shrub along with a guide to taking care of young trees. She says that her teacher informed her that what she was given looked to be a young spicebush. As I have never grown one of these, and have none on our property, I am unsure as to what it is exactly. It seems to look similar to pictures I have seen online, but again I am unsure. If anyone could help me to be certain I would really appreciate any info provided. Also, if anyone has grown them, are these plants invasive?

That's what I am thinking, but I am not positive. Looking for a more experienced judge to let me know for sure.

Here are some more pictures. Hopefully they help someone to identify this plant for me.

Look a bit like Griselinia littoralis, but I don't think that's it...

Yeah, it does look like Griselinia littoralis a little bit, but I dont think that's it either. Im pretty confident that it is a young Lindera Benzoin, but it's hard to be sure because of how small it is, and the lack of flowers or berries.:banghead:

Here are some new pics of the plant. Hopefully they will help with a positive identification.
