I'm in upstate New York. My tree this year has been losing leaves since spring. I attaced a picture of what most of the leaves look like. Some don't have black spots, some are yellow. Any ideas? Solutions?
It is a fungus called Rhytisma. To get rid of it, make sure you rake all the leaves and destroy them in the fall. When the new leaves first start budding in the spring, spray with a fungicide, then two more applications at 7 to 10 day intervals. It's too late this year,(if symptoms are visible, it's too late) but this is rarely fatal for the tree.
