The pale bark and glossy leaf make me think it could be some sort of eucalyptus, but I could be barking up the wrong tree :0 I am not really an expert in shrubs.

This is Fortune's Sweet-Olive (Osmanthus x fortunei), It is a primary hybrid of the Holly-Olive (O. heterophyllus) and the Sweet-Olive (O. fragrans). Both parent species are native to eastern Asia, Taiwan, and Japan. This shrub blooms in the fall with small, fragrant, white flowers.
