I have a beautiful rubber plant that's very large. I need to cut it back a little. But when it has been broken accidentally before, it leaks a white liquid onto the floor, hurting my hardwood. Is there a way to avoid this liquid? And what's the best way to cut it back? Thanks!

No idea how to avoid this liquid. I went crazy and bought one for £1 or £2 even though it was more than 5 feet tall and it had big leaves which took up a lot of room. In the end, I chopped it to about 2 feet tall and left it outside in the sun. It has been very happy and sprouted a lot of leaves - and the colour of the leaves is much darker! They are not delicate at all.

Thank you. I put it outside once, on the porch. But it was cooler weather and it lost all of its leaves. I brought it back in and it grew back. Thank you for the response.

I put mine at the back where it has had 13 hours of sunshine and heat of 30c for nearly 1 whole week. It was bright and hot. and it's responded by throwing up tons of darker leaves.
