Hi

Can anyone tell me what rose this is and how to keep it pruned so it maintains this form but flowers. It flowers once in the early summer ish and sends out long shoots in late summer/early autumn. I thought it was a dog rose?

How do I keep it pruned so it maintains this shape. It’s growing up a dead cherry tree. It produces hips.

Many thanks.

If its has a lot of thorny, super sharp thorns it may be the Prickly Wild Rose (Rosa acicularis).

Hi. Thanks for your replies. Unfortunately it’s not my property. Below is a close up of the blooms.

It’s not a great picture. As the flowers were fading but they firm off short laterals from new long growth made previous autumn.

I'm sorry the picture is far too small for me to identify it and blurs when zoomed in. A close up of an individual flower would be best please.

Please remember, I am asking how to prune aswell as identification. So far I have just tied in new whippy growth. But now this is produced less and less and lots of older wood in centre.

Many thanks.
