I have a problem with my lovely rose bush. It was inherited when I moved into our new home three years ago. It was a lovely rose bush that grows beside our porch. This past summer my dogs damaged most of the bush, and I was forced to trim it back to the ground. I know in time the bush will grow back, but I'm not sure if I should expect to be able to harvest some rose hips this next year or if I should try to plant a new bush on the other side of the porch.

Any ideas?

I love rose bushes! I say the more the merer. You should definitely plant another bush on the other side or next to it if there is room. You should plant the same one or a bush with sunflowers. That would look really pretty with the different types of flowers. It may take some time for them to grow but with patience, it would look so beautiful.
