Yes I know they break down Compost but they also eat young plants.

I have them mostly in my Compost.

Do I try to get rid of them or leave be?

They will, if you have more pill bugs than you do food (dead and decomposing vegitation) for them to eat, chew on your baby plants. I would just sieve the compost before you use it. This way you can put the pill bugs back in the compst pile to finish their work and have fine compost to add to your beds.

Please leave the roly-polies alone: "And because roly-polies don't bite or sting and rarely eat living plants or crops, they pose no risk to humans and very little threat to crops and agricultural land. In fact, they have a positive effect on their ecosystem, improving soil quality, according to the University of Florida."
Here's a link, if you care to know all about these cool little crustaceans:

Over the pond in Blighty we call them woodlice. Important thing to know about them is they have no teeth. They cannot eat plants only the bits that are already damaged and rotting.
the young plants that you think they are eating have in fact been eaten by someone else ( most probably slugs that you haven’t seen). The woodlice or Roly Polies are simply cleaning up the edges
just let them get on with what they do best 😀
