Question about starting seeds indoors

I wasn't sure where to type this, so I came here. I started seeds indoors at about the second week in April. They germinated quickly, grew fast and got leggy,fell over and died. How do I prevent this from happening?

Getting leggy is what happens when a seedling doesn't get enough light. Falling over and dying is a different thing most probably caused by damping off disease.
