Pruning willow tree

Just planted willow tree in April 2020 it’s about 1.5” in diameter and 12’ fall. Do I need to prune lower branches?

I think I would take off the lower branch. If you stick it in the ground it will probably take root and provide you with another tree

You NEED to prune the branches that get in your way. All the others can stay. Which ones you keep depends on where you want the branches to be.

I remember when I was young reading a book on propagation, everything was cuttings about 6 to 9 inches, then I came to willow, "Take a piece about 1.1/2 " diameter and six feet long, make a hole with a crowbar..." . I mentioned it to my Dad and he said "And then stand back..."
