I remember when I was young reading a book on propagation, everything was cuttings about 6 to 9 inches, then I came to willow, "Take a piece about 1.1/2 " diameter and six feet long, make a hole with a crowbar..." . I mentioned it to my Dad and he said "And then stand back..."I think I would take off the lower branch. If you stick it in the ground it will probably take root and provide you with another tree
