Pruning a maple tree in Michigan

I removed a branch from my maple about 10” in diameter. Do I need to apply anything to wound?

No, I've pruned a million branches and never put anything on the cuts ever. I've heard of some old wise tales about painting or wrapping limbs but never from an Professional Arborist. It's very important to make clean cuts with clean saws on every limb.
