Primrose Midnight is easy to grow in pots.

A Primrose is a Primrose is a Primrose.

However, this Primrose is a Rosy Evening-Primrose (Oenothera speciosa) in the Evening-Primrose family (Onagraceae). It is native to much of the U.S. and northern Mexico and can grow like a most beautiful weed in any sunny, well-drained spot.

I thought I'd mention it, because every other Primrose portrayed on this thread (so far) is a 'true' Primrose (Primula spp., mostly P. x polyanthus) in the Primrose family (Primulaceae). They are native throughout much of the Northern Hemisphere and beyond, but most diverse in Eurasia.

Of course I adore them both, and I suppose that is both the trouble and the glory of common names: all Primroses are welcome.

Sorry. You lost me at the begining. 'Proper and Primroses'

What's the problem. The genus is. Primulacea. The off-spring or variants are Polyanthus.
