Incorporate a LOT of organic matter into the soil. Leaves, grass clippings, compost, wood chips etc.

In sandy soil, humic materials add a good boost. They are basically the last remnants of the breakdown of organic matter. Its important to maintain the processes of organic material breaking down, so I would not suggest relying purely on such products. Biochar is another long lasting amendment sandy soil could use, though consistent additions of organic material will create soil conditions that are very favorable for planting.
