This morning about 9 am I started digging up 1 of the potato rows. Garden was not very muddy from last nights 3/4" of rain. Dark clouds started rolled in about 11 am as I finished putting 121 lbs. of new potatoes on the scales. Rain gauge says another 3/4" of rain. I have NEVER grown potatoes this large in such a large quantity. The only thing I did different was sprinkle each 30 ft. potato row with about 3/4 of a soup can of 15/15/15 fertilizer on day 60. Year after year I always get about 100 lbs. of new potatoes from each 30 ft. row. The only reason I dug up this row early is, watermelons need room to grow in that direction.

I dug up another 30 ft row of potatoes. I planted Red Pontiac & Kennebec in the same row. I have 74 lbs. of Red Pontiac + 30 lbs. of Kennebec = 104 lbs. of new potatoes.

It is interesting to see Red Pontic are about 90% very large potatoes while Kennebec are about 50% large potatoes + 50% random size small potatoes. Wife likes the small marble size potatoes, toss a hand full in stew an don't have to slice & dice a large potato for stew.
