Please ID this plant

I need to know the plant name so i can learl how to prune it.

It's an Acer, Japannese Maple. I think it's lovely. They are dwarf Maple trees. You could limb it up, remove lower branches but I wouldn't.

I have 3 of them and they are getting to wide.

You can trim each branch back in late winter, before they start spring growth, by no more than 1/3 it's total length to decrease their width.
