I just noticed these white bumps going up the stem of what I think is a chameadora (I got it as a gift). I researched it and couldn't find anything like it, please help!

It looks like stem rot, I would cut that one off right down to soil level.
It could be over watering so be careful how much you give it also in winter they don't need a lot.
I cannot see the problem well enough on your photos @Azaleasrcool , so i suggest you look up (google) Mealy bugs, woolly aphids and scale insects - you should be able to tell if it is indeed an insect infestation by taking some of that off the stem first.
