Pellet stove ash

I have a wood pellet stove and was wondering if I could use the ash in my vegetable garden. I know that they are made with certain chemicals, but not sure how that would affect the soil.

Wood ash is alkaline, so test your soil first because you don't want to increase the pH too much if it's already alkaline. In terms of chemicals etc, no idea I'm afraid. Could you see if the manufacturer offers any details about that?

I will test soil this spring. In the meantime I will check with the company, they are fairly local. Thanks for the reply.
