A dear friend down the road has pecan trees, and I have a pecan cracker, so we team up at this time of year and go "nuts!"
She has provided three burlap bags and a big basket of pecans, and I'm cracking and picking out meats. We split 50/50, and each of us thinks she is getting the better of the deal.
Here's our cracker, which is made out of boiler plate, which gently cracks the shells and doesn't pulverize the meats. It also is adjustable to accomodate the size of the pecans.

I agree that the design is ingenious, but both the round part and the part in back of it is boiler plate. The ridges on the plates crack the pecans without destroying them, and the handle on the front round plate makes it easy to rock the plate back and forth.
