Peace Lily has weird grass??

Today I was watering my peace lily and noticed two strands of what I can only describe as long, thin grass. It didn’t appear to be a new bud or anything so, out of curiosity, I pulled one out, it popped out of the soil pretty easily. The stem that was in the soil has a bright red color, and the ends are dark green. Any clue what this is?

A photo would be a great help here. From what you've said so far, my two leading hypotheses (guesses) would be 1) deformed leaves from your Peace Lily (Spathiphyllum sp./hybrid), or 2) another kind of plant growing in the pot.
