We here in the USA are so wrapped up in our own hurricanes, fires, and mass shootings that not much from the outside world filters in.
Is Ophelia threatening the coast of Ireland? If so, what precautions/evacuations are being recommended? Are any of our members in the storm's path?
Zigs, talk to us!!!!!

Don't think it has landed yet, but northwest Ireland seems to be boring the blunt when it does land.

Here in the British Isles, we are quite prone to gales, or stormy weather. Wouldn't say I am fat, but I was surprised that I was nearly blown off the road .. lined with buildings on both sides last year.

Those of you are in the path, or near the path, take a bit of advice from someone who has been there, done that.

Fill containers with drinking water.
Cook meals that can be eaten at room temperature and put them in a cooler or sealed container.
Put clean and dry clothing in large plastic bags.
No matter how much they complain, put pets in crates or carriers.
Gas up the vehicle in case you have to evacuate.
Any important papers, like insurance policies, passports, etc. should be put in waterproof bags and placed where you can get to them quickly, in case of evacuation.

I do so sincerely hope you don't have to do any of the above, and that all in the UK are safe.

Fear of worse, just hike price of goods.

Plastic sheets, string, dried food in small separate pack, solar or crank powered light.

@MaryMary Man propose, god dispose .. No need to worry. Usually, we have very good warning system here. The worst is really seeing people's houses flooded in sewage water for days on end and it rained and rained as if heavens had no pity ..

Thank you all for the concern.
