Greetings. I’ve been growing veggies for about 8 years now and I’m into worm composting. Tomatoes are my big thing. I grow several varieties and like to put up enough to can. This year I’m trying some cucumbers for pickling and have decided to join some gardening communities for tips and knowledge exchange. I garden organically.

Here’s a picture of some of the tomatoes I grew from last season.

another person giving me zone envy...:banghead: just teasing :)

Welcome to the forum!
You could always move. I’ve lived all over the place. Of course Canada has clear geographical limits to warm weather.
What type are the black tomatoes?
Cherokee Purples and Black from Tulas. I probably won’t grow the black from tulas again as they’re finicky and seem to have a smaller window of deliciousness compared to the Purples.

I have grown both, now I grow Black Krim. I like the blacks, they have a nice taste and make a great juice. Of course, it depends a lot on the climate during the Summer.

As good as black tomatoes are, I haven’t had any that can beat bicolors. These are large barred boars from Brad Gates, and they’re about the best tomato I’ve ever grown. I plan on doing several of his new varieties this summer.

My, you do turn a phrase! Welcome to the forums!
I didn’t know how else to phrase it but it was clearly a thing as they were only super good for like 2 months whereas the Purples went about 4. Maybe it’s the variety, maybe it was the weather, I’m content to just move on to more productive types. I gave them 2-3 tries, which is about my limit.
