Speaking of walking. Here is a super video I came across today, and it describes exactly the kind of changes I have felt over the past three years of walking on my little walking path.
That is one fantastic video @oneeye .

The best, by far, science-based explanations of the numerous benefits of walking.

With your permission, I'm going to post it over on the YouTube mega thread where it will immediately become the #1` video ever posted there...IMO 🤠

Busy day finishing one project and organizing things to start the next one...e.g. fixing a flat tire.

This reading must be an aberration of some sort. Busy day but not that busy.

I spent a couple hours on the big tractor discing "the back 35" and it seems like the steps watch must have mistaken those bumps for steps?

I've got a smart watch and it counts my steps, should be 10.000 a day, but yesterday i did over 18000 because i had to keep taking my dogs out, they have the diarrhea.

When I started the steps watch thing I had no idea what to expect or what were magic numbers.

Some AI research has been informative:
  • "A large analysis of 17 studies (227,000+ people) found that as few as 3,900 steps/day lowered risk of early death, and each additional 1,000 steps reduced risk by another 15%.
  • For heart health, improvements appear as early as 2,800–4,500 steps/day, especially in older adults.
  • Step intensity (speed) matters less than total steps, though brisk walking adds extra benefits. "
It seems much like in gardening the effects can vary considerably from one individual to another and we each kind of need to find our own levels.

One thing that is absolutely beyond question is that several large studies point to clear ranges that improve longevity, heart health, and overall well‑being.

Not been walking much since doing my shoulder, catching up in the garden is taking up all my energy, but as the weather is improving and I am slowly getting on top of the garden I shall probably start again, at the moment it is just the two or three thousand tops that I do fetching stuff up and down the garden. definitely good exercise for general fitness levels.
