Hi all
I was hoping for more help regarding my basil. I have now encountered a new problem. After successfully getting rid of the aphids with the organic spray, then pruning off all the leaves affected with black spots from "rust" I thought my troubles were over. Alas, today I discovered more bugs on the basil plant so I resprayed it with white oil (photo attached). Three hours after spraying I noticed some of the leaves especially the tips are now turning blackish (photos attached). Can anyone shed any light on what has caused this? Surely rust cannot happen so quickly? Any help is appreciated.
Thank you

It is possible that a pathogen could become more apparent in a short span of time. it is also possible that there was some damage earlier that was not noticed. To rule out the possibility that the horticultural oil is causing damage, treat only some of the plants with the oil and see if you notice any difference. Note that the leaves that are treated with horticultural oil would not be good to consume, though newer leaves that grow out after the treatment would be fine.

Perhaps your basil leaves are suffering from leaf burn. Look up leaf burn from neem oil and see if this is consistent with your plant's symptoms. If this is the problem, then only use oils early in the morning when it is not hot outside.
