Need advice with our soil

WOW... A lot of great info/advice here... We'll digest it after chores. Sorry if this turned into a "soil-opera". Should have mentioned we're in zone 7a, close to Arkansas, Goats and cattle work good here. If you want to grow rocks your in luck.
The soil already potted got a light treatment of Pilled Sulfur, 2T per 5 gal, the soil being saturated and big rain coming tonight and next week ought to help. Once the rain tapers down, we'll start running the potted soil thru the tumbler adding amendments, then repot. Again, thank you mucho. Happy Trails.

I'm no expert but IMHO your primary issue is pH. A 3:1 mix of your mix and peat would be the quickest way to lower pH. Sulphur takes time to work. Additionally you could add a balanced organic fertilizer to help you through your first year. (To the Group) As I said I am no expert so feel free to chime in on my recommendation.
