What do I do? I planted them a month ago.
How old were the seeds and where did you get them. Please describe everything you did with the seeds before planting them. What do I do? I planted them a month ago.
When you get apples from a store you have about a 95% chance that the fruit was picked before the fruit was sexually mature. Then after you get seeds from a mature fruit you have to stratify the seeds for 45 - 60 days at about 40F. Then your soil must be about 50F for the seeds to sprout if you plant the unsprouted seeds in soil. Then once you have your seeds sprouted and planted it will take about 10 years before you see the first apple. Or you can sprout your seeds on a damp paper towel inside of a plastic bag sfter stratification at 45F- 50F and transfer these tiny sprouts to cool soil until they get their first set of true leaves and then gradually let the soil warm up. And you will still have 10 years before the first apple.I got them from a fruit from the store and some spots of the apple were dentable.
You'd be better off buying a tree from Gurneys online or a local nursery. This way you can get a tree that will bear fruit sooner, be the exact cultivar you would like for fresh eating or pies ( whichever you prefer) and have one that will grow in your climate zone. What do I do?
