Hi All, I’m new to this site and looking for help.
We are in the process of buying a new home. The house and garden is around 10 years old and the garden beds are right against the house walls. Aside from digging out the whole garden bed, any suggestions on how to sort this? Would inserting pavers between the house wall and the garden bed be enough?

What I would do is cut the shrubs back ,dig them out, move them all forward and then install about an 18" wide layer of gravel between the house and the garden bed. Below is how I solved that. I put a weed barrier down, then a 2" deep layer of pebbles.

The most important thing is that the damp proof course is above ground level. It is usually visible as a layer of black under the mortar along one of the lower courses of bricks, sometimes the mortar covers it a bit, but it should be visible somewhere and it will follow the same course all around the house. What Annie has done though is very good practice to keep the house dry.
That is a lovely colour Annie, is it a rose, looking at the leaves.

Being in Queensland Australia, I also need to clear away from the termite barrier!
